Start Recovery
Your recovery begins with one call.
Start Your Journey
We founded MAHP Addiction Treatment because too many families in Lemon Grove faced impossible choices when seeking addiction care. Our admissions process reflects that founding principle: it should be simple, fast, and free of unnecessary barriers.
Call (209) 692-4559 any time, day or night. You will reach a real person on our admissions team who will walk you through a confidential clinical assessment, answer your questions about treatment options, and begin verifying your insurance benefits immediately. Most clients receive a benefits summary within hours.
We coordinate everything from pre-authorization to travel logistics. If you or your loved one is in crisis, same-day admission is available. Our goal is to move you from that first phone call to arrival at our facility within 24 to 48 hours, because we know that when someone is ready for treatment, every hour of delay is a risk.

Insurance Verification Process
When you call our admissions line, our verification specialists will contact your insurance provider directly to confirm your benefits. We check coverage for medical detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient services. You will receive a clear explanation of your covered days, copay or coinsurance amounts, deductible status, and any prior authorization requirements before you commit to admission.
Financial Assistance
If your plan does not cover the full cost of treatment, or if you are uninsured, our financial counselors will discuss payment plans, sliding scale options, and state-funded program eligibility. We accept Medicaid and Medicare and can help you navigate the application process if you have not yet enrolled.
The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act
Federal law requires most insurance plans to cover substance use disorder treatment at the same level as medical or surgical benefits. If your insurer denies or limits coverage, our team will advocate on your behalf, filing appeals and ensuring your rights under the Parity Act are respected. No one should be denied treatment because of an insurance technicality.
What to Bring
Packing for treatment does not need to be stressful. We provide most essentials, but bringing familiar items can make the transition more comfortable. Here is what we recommend:

- Journal & Writing Materials: Reflective writing is part of our daily schedule
- Books or Reading Material: Our library is well-stocked, but personal favorites are welcome
- Contact Information: Phone numbers and addresses of family members and support contacts (phones are available during limited hours per our phone policy)
Please leave at home: Weapons, alcohol, drugs, over-the-counter medications (our medical team will manage all medications), valuables, and large amounts of cash. Electronics use follows our limited-hours phone policy. Pets are not permitted on campus.
FAQ
How long does addiction treatment take?
Many people think treatment is a quick 28-day fix, but actually, effective recovery timelines vary significantly by individual. Medical detox at MAHP typically lasts 3 to 7 days. Residential treatment runs 30 to 90 days depending on clinical need. Outpatient programs range from 2 to 12 weeks. Our clinical team assesses progress continuously and adjusts the timeline accordingly, because rushing someone through treatment to meet an arbitrary deadline undermines everything we are trying to accomplish.
Is detox dangerous without medical supervision?
Many people think they can detox safely at home with willpower alone, but actually, unsupervised withdrawal from alcohol and benzodiazepines can cause life-threatening seizures, delirium tremens, and cardiac complications. Opioid withdrawal, while rarely fatal, produces severe discomfort that drives most people back to use within hours. Our medical detox unit provides 24/7 physician and nursing oversight with medication-assisted treatment protocols that manage symptoms safely and reduce the risk of relapse during the most vulnerable phase of recovery.
Will my insurance cover treatment?
Many people think their insurance will not cover rehab, but actually, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act requires most plans to cover substance use disorder treatment at the same level as other medical conditions. We accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid, Medicare, First Health Network, Magellan, and Humana. Our verification team contacts your insurer directly and provides a detailed benefits breakdown before admission so there are no financial surprises.
Can I visit my family during residential treatment?
Many people think entering residential treatment means complete isolation from loved ones, but actually, family connection is central to our model. MAHP offers scheduled weekend visitation and weekly family therapy sessions. We believe that maintaining and repairing family relationships during treatment strengthens long-term recovery outcomes. Our family programming director coordinates visitation schedules and ensures every interaction supports the therapeutic goals of both the client and their household.
What happens after I complete treatment?
Many people think that completing a program means recovery is finished, but actually, the transition back to daily life is one of the highest-risk periods for relapse. MAHP provides a structured step-down pathway from residential to outpatient care, an active alumni program with regular meetings, and ongoing access to peer accountability groups. We also connect clients with community resources in Lemon Grove and the greater San Diego area to support housing, employment, and continued counseling.
Do you treat co-occurring mental health disorders?
Many people think addiction treatment and mental health care require separate facilities, but actually, treating them independently is one of the most common reasons people relapse. Our dual diagnosis program addresses substance use disorders alongside depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and other conditions simultaneously. Our psychiatric team and therapy staff coordinate treatment plans so that medication management and therapeutic work reinforce each other rather than operating in silos.
Can I keep working while in outpatient treatment?
Many people think treatment requires putting their entire life on hold, but actually, our outpatient program was specifically designed for people who need to maintain work and family responsibilities. We offer evening and weekend sessions, flexible scheduling, and virtual check-ins when appropriate. Our founders built this flexibility into the program because they saw too many Lemon Grove residents avoid treatment out of fear of losing their jobs.
What makes MAHP different from other treatment centers?
Many people think all rehab centers are essentially the same, but actually, MAHP was purpose-built by clinicians who identified a specific gap in Lemon Grove's healthcare landscape. Our mindfulness-centered model integrates extended daily meditation, breathwork, and somatic practices into every level of care. Our peer accountability structure creates recovery communities that last beyond discharge. And our family restoration mission means we treat addiction as a household condition, not an individual failing.
